Carpet Dyeing & Colour Repair Training Course

Learn how to dye carpets and rugs and repair bleach spots and stains. This is a two day course aimed at carpet professionals wanting to expand their services and learn new skills.

 

This course can be done one-to-one or in a small class. Our class based courses are organized in collaboration with Woolsafe Academy. Upon completion, the trainees will receive a Certificate of Attendance and once completing the practical assesment, a Certificate of Achievement.

 

 

 

What is included in the Carpet Dyeing Course?

The Carpet Dyeing Kit

  • 1 x 50ml dropper bottle of each primary colour red, yellow and blue Brio Dye
  • 1 x 50ml dropper bottle of each brown and blackBrio Dye and Brio Mordant
  • Mordant refill 250ml
  • Bleach neutraliser
  • Syringes with needles and sharps disposal box
  • Terry towels
  • Sturdy Carry case
  • Brio Dyes are lab tested and WoolSafe Appproved

Day One

 

  • Understanding different dye types and their applications
  • Utilizing acid dyes
  • Repairing bleach spots
  • Identifying the causes of color loss
  • Neutralizing factors that cause color loss
  • Calculating the percentage of color that is missing
  • Mixing primary colors to recreate the missing color
  • Techniques for dye application (syringe versus airbrush)
  • Strategies for marketing and pricing
  • Hands on practice
  • Practical assessment

 

Day Two 

 

  • Advanced stain removal – bleaching out and dyeing to remove a stubborn stain 
    • ​Using UV lights and textile bleaches to remove stubborn stains like turmeric, pet urine, wine, coffee, etc
  • Bespoke colour matching
  • Making up dye baths
  • Rug  overdyeing
  • Colour change
  • Tea washing
  • Oriental rug dyeing (airbrushing faded colours)
  • Strategies for marketing and pricing
  • Hands on practice
  • Practical assessment

     

 

Post Course Certification

 

Trainees who attend will receive a Certificate of Attendance.

Those who pass the carpet dyeing assessment on the provided bleached carpet samples will be awarded a Certificate of Achievement.

Trainees who are WoolSafe Approved Service Providers will have the opportunity to list carpet dyeing as one of their specialty services on the WoolSafe website.

Additionally, there will be an option to join the network of WoolSafe Approved Colour Restorers, featuring a dedicated directory promoted to carpet mills, retailers, and the insurance industry.

WoolSafe Approved Colour Restorers will have the privilege of using the certification mark.
