Brio Dyes are highly concentrated, permanent, professional liquid carpet dyes, specifically formulated to make carpet and rug dyeing and colour repair easier for our trained colour restorers and dyers.

 

 

At the beginning of 2023 the Brio Acid Dyes were submitted for an independent laboratory testing performed by WoolSafe.


The lab tests included:

 

  • colour fastness to crocking, shampoo, water and daylight
    • the tests proved that the dyes are permanent and colourfast
  • carpet soiling
    • the tests showed that the dyes do not cause carpet soiling
  • liquid repellency
    • the tests showed that the dyes do not change the original repellency of the carpet
  • PH
    • the tests proved that the dyes do not change the original PH of the carpet

What are Brio Dyes?

Are the carpet dyes permanent?

 

Once set, Brio Dyes are permanent. They were tested by an independent laboratory and the tests showed the dyes are highly efficient and permanent.

 

 

How to dye carpets at home?

 

Carpet dyeing is best left to professionals. If you need your carpets dyed or colour repaired please get in touch. We have trained many carpet cleaning companies around the world so chances are we would be able to refer you to one of our trainees local to you.

 

 

Can I dye my carpets myself?

 

Carpet and rug dyeing is highly skilled. Without training, professional dyes and equipment the results will likely be unsatisfactory.

 

 

How do the dyes work?

 

As the name suggests, the Brio Acid Dyes work in a hot and acidic environment.

 

 

Can you dye any carpets?

 

We have different sets of dyes, which work on wool, nylon, silk, sisal, jute, cotton, linen and any other cellulosic fibres.

 

 

Can you dye sisal carpets?

 

Yes, The Brio Sisal dyes are ideal for colour repairs on sisal, jute, seagrass, etc.

 

 

Can you dye a rug?

 

Absolutely! Whether it is to get a rug a couple of shades darker, change its colour, or to restore sun faded colours, rug dyeing is one of our most popular services.

 

 

Can I buy the Brio Carpet Dyes?

 

Yes, if you have taken one of our dyeing classes. The dyes are exclusively available to our carpet and rug dyeing and colour restoration trainees.

 

 

Can I use Dylon or Rit dye for dyeing carpets at home?

 

Neither of them are suitable for carpet dyeing. 

 

 

What dyes are best for dyeing carpets?

 

Different types of dyes are suitable for different types of fibres. Brio Dyes have been specifically developed for carpet and rug dyeing.

 

 

Where can I buy dye for carpets?

 

Commercially available dyes are not necessarely suited for dyeing rugs and carpets.

 

 

How can I become a WoolSafe Approved Colour Restorer?

 

To become an Approved Colour Restorer you'd have to have taken one of our WoolSafe Carpet Dyeing courses and pass the assesment.

 

 

Once I've become a Colour Restorer, can I buy the carpet dyes?

 

Absolutely! Brio Carpet Dyes are available to all of our trainees.

 

 

How much does the carpet dye kit cost?

 

The Brio Dyes colour repair set costs £165 and is included in all our dyeing courses.

 

 

What does the carpet dye kit contain?

 

The Brio dye set contains 50ml of each primary colour (red dye, yellow dye and blue dye), 50ml of brown carpet dye, 50ml of black carpet dye and 50ml of mordant.
